The Foster to Adopt (FTA) program gives adopters a unique opportunity at adoption. It can be a big decision to adopt a dog and this program can make it a little less stressful.
Foster to Adopt Process
Step 1: Becoming a Foster
The first step to join our Foster to Adopt program is to fill out a foster application. Once everything is approved, our Onboarding Manager will be in contact with you regarding next steps. While your anticipation is to adopt the animal, the animal is still Rescue Networks until all vetting has been completed.
Step 2: Bringing Home Your Foster
Since our FTA animals are not with Rescue Network yet, there will be a set day when the animal will arrive. All of this information will be communicated with you.
Step 3: Vetting
It is important to know that almost all animals that come to Rescue Network will need more vetting done before they can officially be adopted. They will need to be brought to one of our vetting partners located in Maple Grove, Coon Rapids, St. Cloud, or Beresford, SD.
Step 4: Decision Making
FTA have 5 days to decide if they want to adopt their animal before it is placed on the website for the public. Even if you decide that the animal is not the best fit for the family, you are still required to keep the animal until it is adopted.
If you want to move forward with adopting, your Foster Coordinator will be in contact with you regarding that process. It is very simple since you are already approved, however, contract and payment will not happen until the animal is vetted and ready for adoption.
**If this animal is not a good fit for you, since you are already approved with Rescue Network to foster, you will have an opportunity to be in our groups where animals are posted to have another first chance at finding your new family member!
