Adoption Process

Step 1: Adoption Application

If you would like to meet a dog or cat that interests you, complete an adoption application. Please know that we can often recieve many applications for an animal and an application does not guarantee you will be able to adopt this pet.

Step 2: Vet Check

Before doing a meet and greet, a veterinary check will be done (if applicable) to ensure that the adopters current pets are up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, spayed/neutered, and FIV/FelK (for cats). To help expedite this process, please contact your vet to give consent to release records.

Step 3: Meet and Greet

The foster reviews the application and if they feel it is a good fit, will contact the applicant to set up a meet and greet. This can take place at a home, public place, or wherever both parties feel comfortable. Please keep in mind that the foster may have multiple scheduled meet and greets depending on the interest.

Step 4: Home Visit

If you’ve chosen to adopt a dog or cat, Rescue Network will arrange a home visit. This can be done in person or virtually. This helps Rescue Network ensure that your home will be a good fit based on what is known about the dog or cat.

Step 5: Adoption Contract and Payment

Once the home visit is approved, Rescue Network will request payment and send the electronic adoption contract to be signed. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs over 9 months), FIV/FelK test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration).

Step 6: Congratulations!

Once contract and payment is completed, the foster will coordinate with you to pick up/drop off your newly adopted pet!

Veterinary records will be sent to you via email after the adoption is processed. Please note – this may take up to a week.
