How Foster to Adopt works.

Adopting a dog or cat can be a big decision. Our Foster to Adopt program helps make it less stressful while ensuring the best match for both you and the animal.

Step 01

Adoption Application

The first step is submitting an adoption application. This shows you're interested in adopting through Rescue Network. Once approved, a member of our team will be in touch with you.

Step 02

Bringing Home Your Foster

Since most FTA animals are not yet with Rescue Network, a set arrival day will be scheduled. All details will be communicated with you in advance.

Step 03

Vetting

Some animals require additional veterinary care before they can be officially adopted. FTA animals will need to visit one of our vetting partners in Maple Grove, Coon Rapids, or Beresford, SD.

Step 04

Decision Making

Foster to Adopt participants have 5 days to decide if the animal is the right fit. Even if you decide it's not a match, you are required to care for the animal until it is adopted.

If you choose to adopt, your Foster Coordinator will guide you through the adoption process. Since you're already approved, the process is simple — the adoption contract and payment occur once vetting is complete.

Not the Right Fit?

If the animal isn't a good match, as a registered foster you can stay active in our groups where animals are posted, giving you a first chance at finding your future family member while helping other animals find homes.
