About the Role

Rescue Network is seeking committed, mission-driven individuals to join our Board of Directors. We are seeking candidates who have professional experience in at least one of the following areas: human resources, accounting, legal, compliance, or risk management.

This is a working board role for individuals who are not only passionate about animal welfare, but ready to actively contribute their expertise, time, and resources to help drive the organization forward.

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated professional experience in HR, accounting, legal, compliance, or risk management
• Passion for animal welfare and creating meaningful community impact
• Willingness to engage, contribute, and grow within a hands-on board environment
• Ability to think strategically while supporting day-to-day organizational needs

Key Responsibilities

• Actively support the mission and strategic direction of Rescue Network
• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of our programs, finances, business model, and operating environment
• Attend and actively participate in quarterly board meetings (with the expectation that meetings may become more frequent as the organization grows)
• Assist in cultivating and soliciting donations, sponsorships, and other funding sources
• Support recruitment of additional board members, fosters, and volunteers
• Review financial statements and contribute to financial oversight and accountability
• Participate in and support capital campaigns and fundraising initiatives

Board Member Expectations

• Volunteer time and professional expertise to advance the organization's work
• Make an annual personal financial contribution at a level that is meaningful to you
• Actively help secure external funding through personal and professional networks
• Serve as an ambassador for Rescue Network within the community
